Marc Mero & Champion of Choices Comes to Cherokee

Mark Mero, founder of Champion of Choices and former World Wrestling Federation and World Champion Wrestling was a guest speaker at Towne Lake Optimist Club.  Champion of Choices is an anti-bullying program that empowers students to make positive choices and has presented the popular “Choices” production at more than half-a-million people.  Champion of Choices’ compelling message evokes personal reflection, laughter and tears, and also instills Hope.  Students and faculty describe “Choices” presentation as life-changing.

PInk out for Breast Cancer

The empolyees at Little Peoples Corner Childcare Center pinked out for Breast Cancer Awareness and in honor of employee and friend Aimee.  Aimee has been a teacher at LPC for 21 years, teaching and loving many local children. Aimee was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is now fighting the battle so many have fought before. Aimee has a strong faith and the support of a large Christian family. LPC sent Aimee off today for her treatment with a pink day full of love, encouragement, letters, cards and many sweet pink treats. We love you Aimee and pray strength and hope for your days ahead!

Ordinary Time

We attended the premier of "Ordinary Time" tonight at the Canton Theater and had a delightful time.  It is a play about family - you will see someone you know in the characters on stage and there are plenty of laughs. It is an original play by Thomas Rieser and the first production presented by Broadway Bound Productions (husband and wife team, Cheryl Lambert and Ralph Zaffino). It runs through September 7 - don't miss it.

Power Of Produce- Kids "POP" Club

 River Church Farmers Market at 2335 Sixes Rd. In Canton in coordination with the Cherokee County Farm Bureau and Century House Tavern in Downtown Woodstock are sponsoring a "Power of Produce"club (POP) for children ages 5-12 at the Market everyTuesday from 2-6 pm until October 28.

HOGS for DOGS Charity Ride for You Lucky Dog Rescue

Calling all motorcycle riders for the 2014 “Hogs for Dogs” Charity Ride and fundraiser benefiting You Lucky Dog Rescue (YLDR) of metro Atlanta. The ride will take place Sunday, August 17th from 11 am to 3:30 pm beginning and ending at Killer Creek Harley Davidson, 11480 Alpharetta Highway in Roswell. That same day Killer Creek will also host their Cruise-N-Blues party from noon to 5 pm with a live band, food and beverage vendors.

National History Day

Christopher Taylor a junior at River Ridge High School placed second in the essay category at the National History Day Georgia State Finals held at Mercer University on April 26, 2014. He will represent Georgia with his paper titled The Fourth Amendment: A History of Infringement at the nationals June 15-19, 2014 on the campus of the University of Maryland.  He is a member of the History Club where his teacher and mentor is Mr. Robert Daniel.

Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta to offer Farmers Market each Tuesday

On Tuesday, May 6, The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta will add a new weekly attraction to its roster of 100 retail stores: a Farmers Market. The Tuesday-only special event will be located in the center of the Shoppes, near the food court. And just as the Outlet Shoppes, which opened in July 2013, offer an enhanced shopping experience, so the new Farmers Market is planned with unique, hands-on demonstrations and product sampling.

Bridge Mill Community holds Bone Marrow Drive

Friends of Sports Analyst Craig Sager are holding a bone marrow drive in support of Craig and many other people like him who are battling AML Leukemia. So in support of fighting this terrible disease get swabbed for Leukemia at No Charge and join the National Registry of donors.
