Lady Knights blow past Lanier with big second half

Shaking off a slow start that had them down by two at intermission, the No. 10 state-ranked River Ridge Lady Knights got rolling in the second half — scoring five goals over a 14-minute span to eliminate Lanier from the Class AAAAA state tournament with a 6-4, opening-round defeat on April 28, in Woodstock.

Knights rally, Lady Eagles sink Raiders en route to Final Four tennis berths

For the first time in county history, a pair of tennis squads are headed to the state Final Four in the same season, after the River Ridge Knights rallied to defeat previous unbeaten Dunwoody, 3-2, and the Etowah Lady Eagles downed Alpharetta, 3-1, in quarterfinals’ matches last week.

Receiving little resistance from either of their first two opponents, the River Ridge Knights have cruised into the Class AAAAA boys’ state quarterfinals, following 3-0 victories over both Apalachee and Allatoona last week.
