Doris Kramer is an institution at Little River Elementary School; she began working there in 1992 and has stayed ever since. She has outlasted the original school building itself, as well as several administrators. The Ohio native began working at the school when her daughters were in first and second grade, beginning as a substitute, later as a reading coach and, most recently, as the student records facilitator. Now, 23 years later, her daughters are still at the school — as members of the faculty.

• Sequoyah High School Advanced Placement and Honors Spanish teacher Allison Webb has won a scholarship for summer study awarded by the Southern Conference On Language Training. She will be studying Andean culture and literature at the Academia Latinoamericana de Español in Cuzco, Peru. Webb is only one of four Spanish teachers to be awarded this scholarship this year. Recipients must teach in grades 11 or 12 or at the college level, and the scholarship recipients receive a two-week Spanish immersion experience, including a home stay. In addition, recipients receive four hours of instruction each day in indigenous Andean culture and regional literature. Webb will be in Cuzco for the summer study from July 5-18. During her stay, Mrs. Webb will prepare a YouTube video to share her experiences with Spanish students and teachers.
