Suspected juveniles reportedly destroyed a costly piece of Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office equipment Aug. 21, and, in an effort to identify the offenders, the department is offering an entertaining reward.
According to Public Information Officer Lt. Jay Baker, deputies were dispatched to the BridgeMill subdivision in the early hours of Aug. 21 to find one of the office’s electronic signs toppled over.
The sign, which is valued at $14,000, will unlikely be repaired due to the damages it endured, Baker said.
Baker also said multiple juveniles are suspected of knocking over the sign, which is used throughout the county to distribute information and notify drivers of their speed.
In an effort to unmask the suspected juveniles who may have knocked over the sign, the sheriff’s office is offering an Xbox 360, valued at $300, as a reward in the case.
“We are confident that this crime was committed by juveniles and our intent in offering this type reward is to get the youth in that community talking about this incident, which we hope will lead to an arrest,” Sheriff Roger Garrison said.
The game console, Baker said, will be given to the first person that comes forward and provides information leading to the arrest of suspects who damaged the sign trailer.
Anyone with any information related to this incident is urged to contact detectives at (770) 928-0239.
