Cherokee County School District will hold registration for first grade and kindergarten for the 2010-11 school year April 22 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m, and April 23 from 9 a.m. until noon at all county elementary schools.
Students who are 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 are eligible to attend kindergarten; students who are 6 years old on or before Sept. 1 are eligible to attend first grade.
Parents are encouraged to bring the child to registration. Required documents for registration are a certified copy of the birth certificate, proof of immunization on Georgia Department of Human Resources (DHR) Form 3231, provided by the public health department or a physician, as well as a completed eye, ear and dental examination form (DHR Form 3300).
Parents also should bring an official copy of the child’s Social Security card, or a signed waiver; a parental picture ID that matches the name on the documentation being provided for enrollment; and proof of residency: a property tax bill for owners; a rental agreement for renters; or, for those occupying another person’s home, a district-designated affidavit signed by the parent or guardian, as well as another district-designated affidavit signed by the occupants and property owners.
