Woodstock police have charged two Bryan County brothers with more than 20 counts of entering auto for allegedly stealing from cars near downtown.
Woodstock detectives charged Gary Carter, 28, and Joseph Carter, 27, both of Richmond Hill, with 23 counts of entering auto, according to Sgt. Mark Hand.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office charged the Carter brothers with 21 counts of entering auto and two counts of financial transaction fraud last month, police have said.
Canton police charged Gary Carter with four counts of entering auto, and a woman, Laina Bumpus, 35, of Canton, with five counts of entering auto last month, officials have said.
Hand said Gary and Joseph Carter allegedly stole items from 21 unlocked cars in the Serenade subdivision near downtown Woodstock in late January. Two of the cars were locked, and the brothers allegedly smashed the windows to gain entry, Hand said.
Woodstock police charged Gary and Joseph Carter Feb. 9 after the victims positively identified their stolen belongings, Hand said.
