• The Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance in locating a wanted black male suspect accused of cashing counterfeit checks at different Walmart locations throughout metro-Atlanta, including Woodstock, Cartersville, Kennesaw, Acworth, Cumming, Lawrenceville and Alpharetta. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is assisting in the investigation, said Public Information Officer Lt. Jay Baker. According to officials, roughly 10 counterfeit checks have been cashed for a total of $7,000. Baker noted that the account numbers on the counterfeit checks represent an account at the Tuscaloosa County Jail. Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to contact the Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office Investigators at (205) 464-8646.
• Canton police arrested two Atlanta men Dec. 31 during a traffic stop on the shoulder of Interstate 575, just north of Riverstone Parkway. Richard Ferchaud, 66, faces a possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine charge, as well as speeding and possession of drug related objects. Giulio Greye, 59, was arrested on a warrant through DeKalb County for failure to appear on two counts of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization. Canton officers conducted a traffic stop on the maroon Toyota Camry driven by Ferchaud after registering it as going 82 in a post 65 mph zone. Upon arresting Greye for the warrant that showed nationwide extradition, officers asked to search the Camry, the report said. According to the report, officers located a black box under the driver’s seat with two plastic bags containing what appeared to be methamphetamine residue. A digital scale reportedly also was located. The report said officers found two envelopes, which contained 1.3 grams and 3.9 grams of methamphetamine.
• Investigators with the Canton police department responded to a burglary in progress call in the 3600 block of Cherokee Overlook Drive Dec. 29. The report said upon arriving on scene, officers noticed one of the panes of glass to the back door had been broken and pushed in. The home reportedly was vacant. According to the report, K-9 officer Farro was brought into the home and asked to bark as the officer gave a command for those inside to show themselves. The report said Casey Floyd, 22, Jason Severino, 23, and Jesse Severino, 18, all of Canton, emerged. Floyd reportedly was holding a hammer in his right hand and a silver flat bar. According to the report, all three suspects admitted to police they forced entry into the home in order to “look around” because they were “curious.” The report said all three suspects were charged with burglary and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
• Deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office BridgeMill Precinct responded to a residential burglary off Ashfern Walk. According to the report, a broker from Bank of America told officers that forced entry had been made to the foreclosed home. The report said the door was unlocked and damage was done to the kitchen area of the house. The back door reportedly had a glass pane kicked inward. According to the report, deputies entered the home and found a small copper pipe cut in the kitchen sink area. Additional pipe was cut from the heater and AC unit, the report said. • Woodstock police have charged Keith Harrison, 47, of Woodstock, with multiple charges after he ran from police Dec. 28. According to the report, officers responded to a gas station off Arnold Mill Road in reference to a stolen vehicle. When officers met with the caller, he reportedly told them that he had borrowed the car from a friend and came to the gas station. When the caller went into the store, he reportedly left the keys inside the car, at which point Harrison allegedly got in and drove away. The report said Harrison brought the car back to the gas station and was asked by police to park the car and get out. The report said Harrison accelerated recklessly and stated to speed away. According to the report, Harrison crashed the car into a curb, allowing officers to arrest him. Harrison was charged with obstruction, fleeing and attempting to elude, driving with a suspended license and reckless driving. Warrants will be taken for theft by taking motor vehicle and entering auto.
