The students at Woodstock Middle School have scored an academic trifecta.  In December, they brought home first place in the county academic bowl at the middle school level, and, in January, they won first-place in the county middle school division of the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl. To top off these accomplishments, seventh-grader McKenzie Williams (pictured) took home the annual district spelling bee trophy Jan. 24, by spelling correctly the last two of 159 words called, “quiche” and “ramen.” Second place in the spelling bee went to Taylor Poole, a Freedom MS eighth-grader, and third went to Jacob Melnick, a Johnston ES fourth-grader.  All event winners will go on to regional competitions. For more on the academic bowl and reading bowl winners, see the article in Weekly News.
