Reservoir or bottomless money pit?

Dear Editor,

Almost every week there is an article in this paper related to the Hickory Log Creek Reservoir.  But, these stories don't bring us the view of picnic tables or fishermen or canoes leisurely moving across the water.

They are stories of needing more money. Recent issues have involved land-swapping, the widely feared darter needing its stream rebuilt and remote-control of discharge water temps.

And don't forget these other issues: lightning damaging equipment and water seeping into the control rooms.

The way this project is being managed, it appears that this is the first time a reservoir has every been built by the human race. Why weren't these items in the design/build budget?

The politicians seem to believe two things: The reservoir has a bottom, and the taxpayer's pocket has no bottom.
