• For her senior project, Woodstock High School Senior Zoe Yurchuck is hosting “Save a Life Movie Night,” March 2, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. “We are Marshall” will be shown on the jumbotron at Woodstock High School. Yurchuck chose the free event to raise awareness about suicide prevention — the teen lost her father to suicide in 2010. Bracelets will be sold for $5. While the movie event is free, Yurchuck asks for monetary donations that will be given to the Johnny Foundation, a nonprofit formed for suicide prevention in memory of Cherokee resident Johnny Leathers. • Mostly Mutts is hosting its fourth annual indoor yard sale at Climatized Self Storage, 1125 Roberts Blvd., Kennesaw, March 2-4, March 9-10 and March 16-18. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the animal rescues in their efforts to provide care and vetting to some of the 70,000-plus homeless animals in the Atlanta area. Pet Buddies Food Pantry will be accepting donations of unopened dry and canned dog and cat food during the sale.
• Dean Rusk Middle School, 4695 Hickory Road, Canton, will hold a PTSA Bingo fundraiser Friday, March 9, at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria. • Canton’s Main Street program will host its annual Valentine Chocolate Walk Feb. 11, just ahead of the Valentine’s Day holiday. • The Georgia Animal Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing euthanasia in local animal shelters (caused by overpopulation). With the help of a grant, the Georgia Animal Project is offering large dog spay or neuter and annual rabies shot for $40 — the offer is valid until the funding runs out.
